Happy Hump Day!
There are a lot of things out of our control. It can get stressful, you will feel down, and then be in a slump. Hey I’ve been there, recently too. So what do you do?
I’m a HUGE advocate for meditation and incorporate it into my life as much as possible. So here are my top 4 reasons for why you should meditate too.
- To Destress – Incorporating daily or weekly meditation sessions into your routine will help you manage stress more efficiently. Not controlling the various stresses of life will wreak havoc on your mind and overall health. If you are easily stressed, anxious, or frustrated then meditating can assist you in dealing with these emotions.
- Gain Clarity – We all go through moments in our lives when we can’t get our head straight. We are either highly emotional, over analytical, confused, depressed, or all of the above and that can be extremely difficult to break through. Time to sort through these complex emotions is required in order to gain clarity and meditation can help with that.
- To Focus – To piggyback off of the above, meditation can help you focus on what’s important. When our minds are cluttered it is nearly impossible to focus on the good, on our goals, on what our priorities are, and we lose ourselves. Once that happens we either make bad decisions or are incapable of making decisions. Take time to meditate and see how focused you’ll become.
- Be In the Moment – When you are less stressed, have clarity and focus, you are able to connect to your inner self. In doing so you are able to live and be in the moment; not in the past and not worrying about the future. Being in the moment is one of the key tools of life (and acting) allowing you to enjoy the present, fully and authentically.
If you’ve thought about meditation but have yet to give it a shot! DO IT! I also highly recommend reading Eckhart Tolle’s Stillness Speaks. I recently went to LI to visit family and brought it back with me. Anyone else still have a lot of belongings at their parents? LOL. Anyway, I’m rereading it and let me tell you; it’s like discovering a bunch of new things for my soul. Apparently I needed it. Perfecting timing.
