For awhile now I had been looking for the perfect makeup products for hot, muggy, sweaty, ew, weather. I was looking for simple and pretty makeup for summer and had no luck. Foundation is not something I like to wear on the daily and prefer a BB or CC cream. However, finding one that matched was impossible; too dark, too light, too ashy looking, it broke me out etc. But, I think my search has come to an end!
Since I have oily skin whenever I see “matte” on a product I’m like, I have to try it. I swear I should be a tester for mattifiers with my oily a** skin LOL. I had tried the L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in medium, and though I liked it, thought that perhaps it was too light (I have horrible lighting in my apt). Always on the hunt for something affordable, I decided to give NYC’s BB Crème in 02 medium a try. It’s a 5 in 1 matte skin perfector that:
- Provides instant mattifying coverage
- Minimizes the appearance of pores, lines and any imperfections
- Smoothes skin
- Brightens skin tone
I tried it and is so light it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything. Obviously I liked that! It delivered on every 5 in 1 point. Compared to the L’Oreal BB cream I realized that it was much more like a primer. The L’Oreal BB cream provided more coverage, and I realized it wasn’t too light at all. The cream is white but as you blend it in the true color is visible. Also, with time it actually blends in nicely on the skin.
Paired together it is perfect for getting that simple, fresh, pretty “no makeup-makeup” look. Easy, fast, and effortless. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to walk around with a full face when it’s hot AF and I’m dripping #notcute. Sometimes you think a product doesn’t work on the first try and so you believe it’s not for you. But try it in a different way, you might end up really liking it. I find this to be especially true with curly hair products.
Use a nude eyeliner in the waterline to help make your eyes pop. I’m currently loving Maybelline Lasting Drama waterproof gel pencil in soft nude. It’s creamy, goes on smooth, and doesn’t bleed. For mascara my go-to is L’Oreal’s Voluminous Mascara in carbon black (the curved brush) and for a light bronze, Physicians Formula Bronze Booster in medium to dark is a fave. It adds a very natural glowy look and it has a bit of shimmer.
If you’re on the oily skin bus I sure hope this was beneficial! I know the struggle. Also, you can now shop my Instagram looks! Check it out! 😉
